IN-CLASS WRITING: 10/18

I learned that filming is more than just having a videocamera ready to shoot. The biggest things I have learned are the basics, because it was possible to actually practice with those theories. I know realize that there are tricks to make watching a video more comfortable for a viewer, just like the 180 degree line techniques where Wohl talked about. I never new that filming had such theories.

The biggest affordance of the mode video is that you can do two things at the same time, you can let someone explain something while you show the watching something else. This can help to let the watcher understand the thing where the person is talking about more quickly. Another thing where video is helpful is that it is more easy to create an certain atmosphere. When a person it talking for instance, you can have music to identify the atmosphere, but in video you also can use certain locations to help building the atmosphere you are creating in your message.

In video we use sounds and visual evidences. As said above, to have both modes, it can help make the arguments strong (like creating a certain atmosphere). You have more modes to work with so you can choose how you use the different elements in the message you try to give to your audience.

From now on I will be more careful of how I film for a video, for example, I now can use the logic of the different close-ups and the rule of the 180 degree line.
