In this blogpost I will talk about my interest in documentaries and a few ideas for making one with my groupmate. Mostly, when I have some free time, I watch series on Netflix, but sometimes I have the interest to watch a documentary. The documentaries that I mostly pick are about someone’s life that is totally different than mine. I love to see how different we all are on earth and how different our lives can be. When I have to make a documentary myself, I would like to do it about following someone life. Below you will find my top three ideas for the documentary.
First of all, I find it really interesting to learn more about the life as a homeless person. I didn’t see a lot of documentaries about this subject, but I know there are a lot of homeless people out there. A documentary will make you realize how this life actually can be. I know that some homeless people have a very though life where it is all about surviving. For those people I would love to make a documentary that shows a to make awareness of those situations.
As a second idea, I would like to make a documentary about a prisoner’s life. I watched a lot of documentaries about this subject, but my interest about watching documentaries of this subject is still there. Every prisoner has his own story to tell and his own environment in his prison. Those different factors together make sure that no documentary will be the same. Unfortunately, a documentary about those people would be hard to film for this class, but there is a possibility to interview the people outside the prison that were ones in. Another option is to film about a writing program to prisoners so they tell their stories on paper.
Third of all, I would like to see the inside life of a famous blogger. In this course we explore the word of blogging and opening up to communicate with the readers, but I find it interesting to know if the blogger feels the same way as the reader. How different is the bloggers life from what we actually see? A very popular blogger Chiara Ferragni has a blog about fashion. She is very involved with social media to keep her viewers and to make them feel like they know her. She uses Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, etc. When I make a documentary about a life of a blogger, I would love to know how they involve the social media in their life and how the making of a blog works for her. How much will it take over her life?
The ideas I mentioned above are all a little bit enthusiastic and hard to actually film, but the options that flow out of those interests are helpful to make good ideas for a documentary in class. The idea about the life of a blogger speaks the most to me, because we talk a lot about it in class and I have never seen a documentary like that before.
