I think that media is a very powerful attribute. Before this class and before writing the blogposts, I didn't see how media influence me and others around me. However, when I was writing about Shinchan I saw how powerful some things can be. Shinchan influenced a lot of children's behavior in that time in The Netherlands. They started to behave badly and that did't stop before it was removed from the television. Another reason why I got the impression that media is very powerful, is that it can influence all kinds of people. People from different ages, different location, different races, and go so on. The way how you design the media will determine who you would influence and that is a very powerful aspect of media. If you design it right, you can reach a big group of people.

I also noticed that media can be very complex. I mentioned above that it can reach different kinds of people, but to achieve this, there should be a solid and strong idea to present in the media. Otherwise, it wouldn't be as successful as it can be. This complexity is something that I find really interesting and it made me realize that advertisements aren't just funny pictures, but they have a very solid and strong plan behind the picture. The fact that a media can be on paper or on the internet is also highly interesting to me. Those attributes are totally different and need to be treated differently. This also confirms the complexity from the media, which I didn't recognize before.
The media is already very familiar on paper, but the internet is still highly developing. When I had to write the blogpost about the fact that journalism becomes harder and harder to be, I saw that the internet had an extremely important role in that. Journalists should adjust to their new environment by communication with their readers, which was almost impossible when everything was presented in newspapers only. This easy interaction gave journalism a whole new dimension, which I find very interesting. I now can imagine that the media is constantly developing and adjusting to new possibilities, which makes it very interesting to me.
The last thing about media that impressed me was how powerful it can be to send the same message in multiple ways. This is something what I discovered with the exercise about the time around thanksgiving. I read the prompt and I waited to write it after thanksgiving itself. I kept my eyes open to absorb all the media and the feelings I got with them. Something that I noticed a lot was that I saw some advertisements coming back in different ways, which made my urge to buy or do something even stronger. It reminded me from certain sales and the impression from the advertisement were slightly different, depending on the medium. I now see how media complements itself with different kinds. From getting a folder in the store to seeing an add while I was looking on Facebook. Overall, this course helped to get new insight to the power and use of media and I'm planning to learn more about this subject.
