The influence of Shinchan

There is one show that pops directly in my mind by thinking of a TV show that affected a lot of children. The way it affected the children was so serious that they removed it from television, because it had a negative influence on their behavior. The TV show is from Japan and it is about a five year little boy with his mother, father, baby sister and dog. The audience was young adults (genre Seinen), but they putted the program on a kidschannel and the ratings were outstanding in my country. The TV show were I'm talking about is called Shinchan.

For young adults this TV show is just funny and it's considered serious. However, since they putted the TV show on a kids channel, it had different consequences. It affected the behavior of the kids in a few ways. They were imitating Chinshan with showing the personal boy parts, but they also started to be disorient towards their parents. Another critique of the TV show is that is was about flirting, while the boy was only five years old. A kid that age shouldn't be thinking about that sort of thinks at that age.

As mentioned above, the boy showed his personal parts a lot in this TV show. The kids at my school began to show their buttocks to the teachers if they didn't want to listen. This didn't happen to often, but it happend at a lot of schools around the country. Besides the physical part, they also started to behave worse as a kid. They didn't listen to the parents anymore and they started to be rebellious, just like Shinchan. The third thing is the sexual aspect of the TV show, I can remember that this wasn't showing off in real life, but I think, just as this article says, that watching those kind of TV shows can affect the way they will look at this later in life.

To get a better idea of what I'm talking about, here are a few examples illustrated about his behavior. In one episode he got in trouble with his parent (especially with his mother), because he got lost and his parents couldn't find him anywhere. Another example is where he went to the police to make some trouble. He filed a report of sexual harassment, remember that he only is five, and he bothers the cops and citizens with this report all day until his parents found out. If children around that age are watching this show in a funny way, they cannot see themselves how serious those things are and that someone shouldn't do those kind of jokes.

Overall, this TV show got a lot of attention in the media and it affected a lot of children in a negative way, because of the mistake of putting it on a kids channel. The mistake here was mostly because this audience was the wrong age, since it was meant for young adults. I think this TV show never affected me and there are certain types of kids that are more sensitive for those examples on television.
