Something about myself

When my mother met my father, she was coming out of a previous marriage with two children and my father had a previous marriage with no children. They fell in love and they both had a passion for Italy. Since my parents were both around the 40s, both my parents weren't able to get children anymore, so I was born through IVF. When I popped out of my mom on October 13th in 1996 in Haarlem (The Netherlands), they gave me an Italian name, Giulia. I find myself a positive, loyal and social person that sometimes can be a little cranky. I love animals and I love kids, but I hate XXXXXX.
My parents divorced when I was three years old. My mother told me that I always asked when she was coming back, but now I can not remember them living together in the first place. I lived with my dad, since he didn't got to raise a kid before. I loved living with my father and we now have a very special bond. We went to Italy every year and when I go there now, it feels like home. Another thing I loved to do with my father is celebrating that 'sinterklaas' was in the country, a Dutch version of Santa Claus.

My mom found a new man and when I grew older I developed a better bond with her. Now we are best friends and I can share everything I want with her. She helped me with a lot of my decisions, for example switching my major and studying abroad in America.
Since I was in eight grade of middle school, I got my first mobile phone and I started to use MSN. This was a chatting platform that everybody had, so after school I where be able to have digital conversations. I think this was my first experience with social media and I noticed that those not face-to-face conversations where different that face-to-face. When I was in high school, I started to use Facebook and from there I got even more involved in social media.
I think we see media more than we realize, because we nowadays use it as entertainment. Media affects my live in negative and positive ways, because the media most of the times emphasize certain happenings. Recently was there a 'hype' of putting video's on Facebook about the misuse of animals for their skin, this 'hype' made you see it every minute on your timeline and for me it destroyed my positive mood. On the other hand, the opposite is also happening. A little while ago, there was also a 'hype' about sending sweet messages to your friends and this made me see those messages on my Facebook page all the time and I made me happy to see all the love towards each other, which resulted in me having a very loving mood. Most people can relate to these simple examples, but I think that media has a very strong influence on our moods. It certainly has an influence on mine. Since the smartphones are very easy in use, everyone is on media all the time and this gives media more and more the opportunity reach and influence more people.
